The Relationship between Global Social Responsability of X, Y, Z Generations and their Tolerance towards Accepting Differences

Most of the social problems arise from the low level of social responsibility awareness of individuals and institutions. However, the level of social responsibility and the extent to which individuals accept differences is determined by their responsibility behaviors. The main purpose of this study is to determine whether individuals' global social responsibility and their attitudes towards accepting differences show a significant difference between generations. In the research, the survey technique was used to obtain the data and the global social responsibility scale and the acceptance of diversity scale were administered to 1499 people. SPSS for Windows 16.0 program was used to statistically analyze the data. Confirmatory factor analysis was carried out for the scales and their cronbach’s alpha values, reliability coefficients, were calculated. Frequencies, means, standard deviations, t test, one-way ANOVA, post hoc sheffe, pearson moment correlation coefficient and regression analyses were used in the statistical analysis. The findings indicate that there is a positive significant relationship between the global social responsibility scale and the acceptance of diversity scale. One-Way ANOVA and regression analysis were used to determine the differences between generations. According to the results of the study, global social responsibility and acceptance of diversity scales differ according to the generation groups of the participants, gender, place of residence and education. According to the regression analysis, it was determined that generations’ behaviors towards accepting diversity has a low level of effect on global social responsibility behavior. In the modern world, individual and society are inseparable and they are affected by each other's problems. In order to overcome these problems, it is necessary to be aware of the problems. In this study, with the thought that tolerance is the basis of this awareness, the extent to which individuals accept their differences in other individuals and their sense of responsibility for a sustainable life have been discussed from the perspective of generations. It was also examined whether the findings obtained support the findings of the previous studies conducted on the subject.

Toplumsal sorunların birçoğu, bireylerin ve kurumların küresel sosyal sorumluluk bilinçlerinin düşük olmasından kaynaklanmaktadır. Oysa, toplumun refah düzeyini, gelişmişlik seviyesini bireylerin sorumluluk davranışları ve farklılıkları/çeşitliliği ne derece kabul ettikleri belirler. Bu çalışmanın temel amacı, bireylerin küresel sosyal sorumluluk ve farklılıkları kabul etme davranışlarının kuşaklar arasında anlamlı bir farklılık gösterip göstermediğini belirlemektir. Araştırmada, verilerin elde edilmesinde anket tekniğinden yararlanılmış, 1499 kişiye, küresel sosyal sorumluluk ölçeği ve farklılıkları kabul etme ölçeği uygulanmıştır. Elde edilen verilerin SPSS for Windows 16.0 programı yardımıyla istatistiksel analizi yapılmıştır. Ölçekler için doğrulayıcı faktör analizi yapılmış ve güvenilirlik katsayısı olan cronbach’s alpha değerleri hesaplanmıştır. İstatistiksel analizde frekanslar, ortalamalar, standart sapmalar, t testi, tek yönlü ANOVA, post hoc sheffe, pearson moment korelasyon katsayısı ve regresyon analizleri kullanılmıştır. Elde edilen bulgular, küresel sosyal sorumluluk ölçeği ile farklılıkları kabul arasında pozitif yönlü anlamlı bir ilişki olduğunu göstermektedir. Tek yönlü varyans, (ANOVA) ve regresyon analizi ile kuşaklar arasında farklılıklar tespit edilmiştir. Araştırmanın sonuçlarına göre, küresel sosyal sorumluk ve farklılıkları kabulü katılımcıların bulundukları kuşak gruplarına göre cinsiyet, yerleşim yeri ve eğitim değişkenlerine göre farklılık göstermektedir. Yapılan regresyon analizine göre kuşakların farklılıkları kabul davranışının küresel sosyal sorumluluk davranışı üzerinde çok düşük düzeyde etkisinin bulunduğu tespit edilmiştir. Çağdaş dünyada birey ve toplum ayrılmaz bir bütündür ve birbirlerinin sorunlarından etkilenirler. Bu sorunların aşılması için öncelikle sorunların farkında olmak gerekmektedir. Bu farkındalığın temelinde hoşgörü bulunduğu düşüncesiyle, bireylerin diğer bireylerde ki farklılarını ne derece kabul ettiği ve sürdürülebilir bir yaşam için gösterdikleri sorumluluk bilinci, kuşaklar perspektifinden tartışılmış ve elde edilen bulguların konu üzerinde yapılan araştırmaların bulgularını destekleyip desteklemediği incelenmiştir.
