The political issue is essential in Islam, and contemporary Islamic movements have not invented it, even though they have greatly emphasized its centrality, as the history of Islam witnessed the existence of interrelationships between politics and religion that reached levels where the political struggle expressed itself in different forms of religious doctrine in many stages In fact, we rarely find moments in this history in which religion was not a central factor in politics, and this is true even in our modern era, where the factors of religion and patriotism overlapped in the formation of a general political conscience against occupation, for example, or against tyranny and others, and it should not be exaggerated. If contemporary Islamism obscures from us the reality of that correlation that was natural and spontaneous, or if it forces us to view it as an unprecedented innovation, it in turn draws from the reality of that correlation, even if it was wrongly expressed. Hence, the Sunni Islamic parties in Iraq since 1921-2003 played a religious role And politically at the same time, and they are walking in this direction in a parallel line, although the political aspect predominates in it in a more prominent way than being a religious orientation, which is what prompted it to clash with the political regimes ruling Iraq for long periods and multiple.
